Dedicated to Loxy („A gift of god“), our cat, who had to be put to sleep in May 2020, due to a disease with no cure.

[21 days we had with you]
Day 1 We got you on a sunny day, we were laughing and you were so curious about everything
Once we were home you hid, we eventually saw you peeking around the corner
Day 2 That’s when you first let us pet you
Day 3 We let you roam around our bedrooms, you discovered so many new things
Day 4 We found out your favorite kind of treats, you loved them so much
Day 5 I would spend a lot of time sitting in your room, talking to you
Day 6 You responded every time we said your name, even though your voice was a little rusty at first
Day 7 We let you into our bedrooms more often, eventually we found you sleeping on my bed
When I sat down next to you you purred, you rolled around, you trusted me
We had you for a week and we had all your trust
Day 8 That day was very busy, so I didn’t see you that much
Day 9 The weather was great
How much I wish you could’ve been outside with us
But you enjoyed sleeping on my bed as well
Day 10 I think that’s when we started to slowly let you out into the entire house
Lilly and Lauser were pretty scared of you, even though you tried to talk to them and explain who you are
Day 11 I’m sorry that we never understood what you said
Day 12 I spent less time with you than I wanted
But at least each time I passed your room and said your name, you responded
Day 13 It was raining, you were asleep all day
I can’t blame you, the weather was really bad
Day 14 I think that’s when you stopped eating
You were getting more and more sleepy, I never wanted to disturb you so I let you be
Day 15 It was stormy
My parents brought you to the vet, we knew something was up
Day 16 Once again a very sunny day, I spent all my time outside instead of with you
If I would’ve known I would’ve been there for you
Day 17 Back to the vet, you still hadn’t been eating
They didn’t know what was wrong
Day 18 I didn’t realise earlier that the situation was serious
Now you were asleep all the time
Day 19 They took blood samples and would later call us
Day 20 Lilly and Lauser suddenly accepted you
They knew how sick you were
Day 21 Early in the morning I sent my friends pictures of you
They said how cute you were
You were sitting there, like as if nothing was wrong
You talked to us, we talked to you, I pet you
When we came back home in the evening you were asleep and I was exhausted
My mom asked me if I wanted to say goodnight to you
I’m happy I did, it’s the last thing you heard from me when I wasn’t crying
Day 22 When I woke up you were already at the vet
The blood test results were hinting towards something, but they had to make sure
We were all in the office when they called
I knew it the second the phone rang
My desk is still stained from the tears, I didn’t have time to wipe them away
When we got there to say goodbye to you you were happy to see us
You meowed, you looked at us
They left us alone for a minute
To me, it wasn’t enough time
Luckily my mom brought the treats with her, you had 5 of them
You were purring as you slowly fell asleep
I told you how much I loved you over and over again
Me and my dad were holding you
I think you knew what was happening, and it was okay.
You had made your peace
